Coronation Street fans are convinced Cassie Plummer has an ulterior motive for wanting to be Ken Barlow's carer on the ITV soap, and it could lead to bad news
Coronation Street fans think Cassie Plummer is up to no good on the ITV soap, and Ken Barlow could be at risk.
The character was seen offering to be Ken’s carer in recent scenes, after soap legend Ken suffered a fall. Ken learned from doctors it might be a slow recovery, and that he’d need some help until he was back on his feet.
Ken was gutted, feeling he was losing his independence and he was reluctant to accept help. Even when granddaughter Amy Barlow offered to make him a cup of tea he lost it.
But Cassie was quick to offer her services as a carer, and Ken initially accepted. Ken was unaware Cassie was not actually a professional carer, with her going along with the lie that she was sent from an agency.
However she soon confessed the truth and confirmed she’d had no training, resulting in Ken sacking her. Cassie later explained that Steve McDonald, Ken’s son-in-law, knew all about her lack of qualifications.

Ken ended up hearing her out, and he apologised for being rude to her. She explained she had cared for someone in the past too, and Ken allowed her to continue helping him out.
But viewers watching at home were convinced there was more to Cassie wanting to help the family out. Some fans suggested she was out to get Ken’s money, or steal his possessions from his house.
Taking to X, one viewer said: “Cassie is obviously going to steal something valuable off Ken and then flog it.” Another said: “He would have to hide all his valuables away when she comes,” as a third wrote: “I hope Ken has his valuables locked away or they’ll be sold for drugs on the street corner.”
A further comment from a viewer read: “I wouldn’t trust Cassie, Ken I thought you were the intelligent one.” Other viewers questioned if the pair could end up becoming a shock couple in an odd twist.
One fan said: “If Cassie becomes Ken’s next wife I’ll die from laughter.” Another fan posted: “I predict sparks will fly and love will blossom between Ken and Cassie, he’s such a Casanova!”
