Coronation Street scene confirms past character’s imminent return after sad exit
Coronation Street will welcome back a familiar face in upcoming scenes on the ITV soap, with a scene on Wednesday night confirming the twist after spoilers detailed a comeback
Coronation Street’s latest episode sealed the return of a former character, as residents reeled over a possible comeback.
Characters learned a blast from the past could be headed back to Weatherfield three years on from their sad exit. Viewers saw the return teased on Wednesday night, after spoilers recently confirmed the big comeback.
Alina Pop’s return was referenced in the episode, as her former love rival Fiz Brown was shocked by the news. Debbie Webster approached Fiz in the café to warn her about this, after drama with Alina three years ago.
Debbie and pal Rita Sullivan had seen in the paper that a crime boss involved in human trafficking had been arrested and faced trial. Debbie suggested Alina, who was caught up in the trafficking ring, might be called as a witness against the man on trial.
Fiz wasn’t sure this would happen but was clearly worried given her history with Alina. Her husband Tyrone Dobbs had left her for Alina back then, before he reunited with Fiz.
Fiz’s daughter Hope Stape had targeted Alina over her romance with dad Tyrone, and even deliberately started a fire at her flat. Alina, played by actress Ruxandra Porojnicu, sadly suffered a miscarriage as a result of the blaze, and she soon fled Weatherfield after splitting with Tyrone.

Now it’s been confirmed Alina will be back on the show soon, as spoilers for next week reveal she and Fiz bump into each other. Alina explains she’s been called as a witness in a trial but will Fiz tell Tyrone about her encounter?
Meanwhile, later at the cab office, Tyrone’s mum Cassie Plummer’s eyes widen as she sees a customer’s name on an airport booking. Taking Steve’s cab, she helps Alina into the car before driving her straight to Weatherfield to see Tyrone. Alina is left furious over being conned.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Ruxandra shared she was thrilled to be back in the role, but teased “tears” ahead as “old wounds” resurface. She teased: “There’s a lot of tears, I think some fights, a lot of love… I’ll leave that there!”
On how Alina feels about being back, she went on: “It’s too much. She needed time away to heal and she did some healing for sure in those two years, but she needs more time to be away from the Street. But we’ll see where this takes her.”
