Coronation Street spoilers: Bethany Platt’s plot as she tricks Daniel Osbourne and Lauren Bolton into exposing a secret
Ever since Bethany Platt’s (Lucy Fallon) return to Coronation Street from the big smoke last month she’s been desperate to dip her toe back into the journalism world – and is now preparing to drive a bigger wedge into Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) and Daniel Osbourne’s (Rob Mallard) personal lives.
If jumping straight out of a taxi and into bed with Daniel on New Year’s Eve wasn’t enough, next week she looks to investigate the circumstances that led to his breakup with Daisy, who is still hopeful of a reconciliation.
Sparked by Daniel’s claim that she could be the next big investigative journalist, Bethany channels her inner Stacey Dooley over breakfast in order to get the scoop for a piece she is writing for Chit Chat Magazine.
Casually dropping the time Daisy catfished Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) pretending to be Crystal Hyde (Erin Austen) into conversation, Daniel is quick to shut down her interest, unaware that it has made her more eager to learn more.
With her bank balance draining, Bethany realises that she must take one step further into the story to get the details – quizzing Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) over what she found out about the affair whilst Daniel was tutoring her last year.
Realising Lauren to be an easy target, Bethany secretly records their conversation which threatens to stir the pot even further with Daisy and Daniel’s already fractured relationship.
Speaking of Bethany’s decision to deceit Daniel and lure Lauren into her trap, Lucy Fallon said: ‘I feel like Bethany’s initially doing it innocently out of absolute desperation, but also because she’s so intrigued by all of this to do with Daisy,’
‘Daisy and Bethany hate each other and there’s obviously a lot of stuff coming up where they are at each other so I do think subconsciously, Bethany is a little bit obsessed with the story behind Daisy and Daniel’ she added.
‘Although I do think in Bethany’s mind she feels like she’s entirely innocent.’
How will Daisy and Daniel react to her deceit?
