Coronation Street spoilers: Broken Bernie falls apart after making a devastating discovery

Shortly after Bernie Winter’s (Jane Hazlegrove) ex Denny arrived in Coronation Street, it became apparent he knew a secret about Bernie – one that she didn’t want Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) and Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) to know.

A few days later, Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) found Bernie looking through an old box. She explained it contained photographs of all her children – which was a clue.

Bernie then asked Dev about how it makes him feel that he doesn’t see all of his children. The emotional conversation saw Dev admit that sometimes, he struggles to sleep at night because he feels so guilty about his past decisions.

Unbeknownst to Dev, pouring his heart out to Bernie actually gave her food for thought.

In upcoming episodes, Gemma realises her mum has been lying about her whereabouts. After doing some digging, Dev confronts Bernie, who crumbles and admits her secret – she has another son.

Bernie tells her partner that Zodiac (Zac) was taken into care, adopted, had his name changed to Christopher Green and now, because Paul is nearing the end of his life, it’s made her think that she should make every effort to find her other son and try to make amends with him.

In the week, Bernie tells Dev that there’s one more Christopher on her list and she’s off to pay him a visit.

However, when Bernie learns that the Christopher in question died of cancer, she is devastated.

Back in the pub, Bernie knocks back the drink, fearful she’s missed the chance to find her son.

Has all hope been destroyed after this development?
