Coronation Street spoilers: Damon prepares serious crime to fulfil Sarah’s big dream
Coronation Street’s Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien) is one step closer to her dream of a lavish family home next week, but doesn’t realise the underhand tactics boyfriend Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) plans to get them there.
The couple’s relationship first ignited last year when they engaged in a steamy affair behind committed husband Adam’s (Sam Robertson) back.
After falling pregnant, Sarah’s uncle Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) fabricated the DNA results and pretended it was Adam’s baby, who by that point had managed to drive drug dealer Damon away from Weatherfield.
In explosive scenes, Adam found out about their lies and demanded a divorce, with their relationship ending for good.
Over recent months, he’s struggled with growing feelings for his estranged wife and the return of Damon proved to be a looming shadow over his potential happiness.
In a bid to get rid of him once and for all, Adam contacted Damon’s twisted brother Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) and made a deal to help him appeal his life sentence for the murder of Natasha Blakeman (Rachel Leskovac) in exchange for some help in waving his enemy off.
Harvey jumped at the chance of freedom and was more than happy to oblige, but when Adam dropped his side of the deal he set one of his cronies out to accelerate towards him in their car.
Putting both Sarah and her daughter Bethany (Lucy Fallon) at risk, his plan made them form a closer bond with Damon, who promised their safety after a word with his estranged brother.
Of course, there was a catch – Harvey wanted him to partake in a robbery.
In upcoming scenes, Sarah looks ahead to the future and views the house of her dreams, complete with a garden for her young son Harry.
With Damon realising he’ll struggle to cough up his side of the mortgage, he’s forced to agree to the crime to get his hands on some cash and tells Sarah that he’ll have to miss Harry’s birthday party the next day.
Under the pretence that he’s meeting up with a lucrative client, he makes his way back into the criminal underworld…
