Coronation Street spoilers: Evelyn Plummer takes action ahead of Fiz Stape’s big return but things go badly
Coronation Street legend Fiz Dobbs is finally returning to Weatherfield next week after months away from her family – but things don’t exactly go to plan.
Actress Jennie McAlpine, who has played knicker-stitcher Fiz for the last 23 years, has been absent from the ITV soap whilst on maternity leave.
A story that saw her take a new position as a supervisor for Underworld in Norwich was devised to facilitate her departure.
During her time away, husband Tyrone’s (Alan Halsall) mum Cassie (Claire Sweeney), who he presumed was dead, has arrived in his life and caused quite a stir amongst her estranged family and their neighbours.
Trouble-maker Cassie has the best intentions when it comes to her actions, but they don’t always have the best consequences.
Most recently, she helped her mum Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) take down an evil puppy farmer, but when she knocked him unconscious during an altercation, Evelyn was left picking up the pieces – and the blame, when the police came looking for the culprit.
Cassie has also landed herself a job at Kevin Webster’s (Michael Le Vell) garage, but almost burnt her bridges with the mechanic when she took a client’s car out for a drive and returned it in a poor condition.
In upcoming scenes, Evelyn ruthlessly cleans the house for Fiz’s big return alongside Tyrone, who has been staying with her over recent weeks.
But at the garage, Cassie lands herself in hot water again when she makes Abi Webster (Sally Carman) promise not to tell Tyrone she’s been using his car.
However, the coverup doesn’t go to plan when Kevin realises she’s been filling the diesel engine with petrol.
Uh-oh.
How will Fix react when she meets her estranged mother-in-law, and how will Cassie explain her big mistake to Tyrone?
