Coronation Street spoilers: Paul issues a serious warning to Gemma after she makes major decision
Coronation Street’s Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) is to deal his sister Gemma Winter-Brown (Dolly-Rose Campbell) some much needed home truths as she makes a bold decision over step-son Joseph’s (William Flanagan) future.
Gemma has had a tough time of late, having been questioned by child protection services for accidentally poisoning Joseph last year and then being told she wasn’t allowed to see any of her children unsupervised.
With her marriage to Chesney on the rocks, her mum in prison for dealing in stolen goods and her twin Paul suffering from a heartbreaking motor neurone disease diagnosis, Gemma felt that the floor had fallen from beneath her feet.
When Joseph collapsed in January, it was found that he was suffering from Lyme disease and her paranoia over his symptoms that had been dismissed for months was genuine.
A fresh hurdle was dealt to the family when Chesney’s over-bearing ex mother-in-law, Linda Hancock (Jacqueline Leonard), jetted into Weatherfield from Portugal and demanded to know what had happened to her grandson.
She then began splashing the cash on the family, buying them a giant American style fridge-freezer that was far too big for their tiny kitchen.
In upcoming episodes, Linda becomes concerned over Joseph’s school work and recommends a move to the prestigious Oakhill School.
Long-term viewers of the ITV soap will remember that Oakhill is a private school that Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) enrolled her daughter Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan) in twenty years ago, in a bid to progress her career in the performing arts.
Aadi and Asha Alahan (Adam Hussain and Tanisha Gorey) are also former students.
With such a proven track record of producing successful alumni, it’s no wonder that Linda is adamant for him to go there…
Chesney is left gobsmacked when she agrees to pay the pricey annual fees, but Gemma is less than impressed and shoves the prospectus away.
Later that evening, Linda’s daughter Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) fumes that she seems to care more about Joseph than her other grandson son Jake (Bobby Bradshaw) and Gemma worries that all of the money she spends on him could have a negative impact on her quadruplets.
After learning about Joseph’s exciting prospect at Oakhill, Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) and Paul instruct Gemma not to let her personal umbrage towards Linda stop him from succeeding in life.
Will she listen to their words, or continue on her plight to get Linda back to Portugal?
