Coronation Street spoilers: Poor Tim! Sally takes an obsessive interest in Steve’s new love
Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) recently implemented a ban on husband Tim (Joe Duttine) socialising with his best friend Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) in Coronation Street.
This harsh measure was a reaction to Sally finding Tim apparently on a double date with Steve and some random women.
What had happened was that Steve had organised a date for himself with a woman called Carole, who brought three friends with her. Steve roped in a reluctant Tim to stop himself feeling outnumbered.
Obviously this socialising ban was never going to last because nothing ever breaks Steve and Tim up for long, not even Sally. She eventually conceded she was just worried that Steve could lead Tim astray while he’s going through his post-Tracy (Kate Ford) dating phase – and Sally was terrified of losing Tim.
Meanwhile Steve had apparently met the woman of his dreams in the form of Demi (Lisa Shingler). Their first date went brilliantly when they found they had a lot in common, including a love of Weatherfield County and a dislike of its former star player Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn) – the evil rat who stole Tracy’s heart.
Steve isn’t quite over Tracy, and pictures on her socials of her paragliding over the Med with Tommy certainly don’t make him feel any better. Tim feels sorry for his friend and wishes he could do more to help.
Now one thing we know about Sally is that she’s something of a social climber and thinks she’s just a cut above everybody else in Coronation Street. After all, she has a conservatory and doesn’t she always make sure we know about it.
So when Tim tells her that Demi is an estate agent in Hale Barns, Sally’s interest is piqued. Hale Barns is a village near Altrincham in Greater Manchester and it’s known for its expensive houses and celebrity residents.
It’s a sought-after, affluent area as Demi would likely describe it. It’s the sort of place Sally would live in if her bank balance was as big as her dreams.
So as soon as she hears this, the socialising ban between Steve and Tim is lifted because Sally can’t wait to get to know Demi. And she’s thrilled when Steve invites her and Tim to join him and Demi for dinner.
Expect Sally’s ‘posh’ voice and at least one mention of that conservatory…
