Coronation Street spoilers: Roy Cropper’s rant over murdered Lauren Bolton puts him deeper in the frame
Roy Cropper’s (David Neilson) future remains uncertain in Coronation Street as he once again puts himself in the frame for Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) supposed murder.
Troubled character Lauren went missing a few weeks ago. While we haven’t seen her body yet, DS Swain (Vicky Myers) has made the assumption she has been murdered due to the blood found in her flat, and the suspicious way she seemingly disappeared into thin air.
After speaking to Bobby (Jack Carroll), DS Swain and Craig’s (Colson Smith) investigation led them to the cafe to speak with Roy.
The beloved character told the truth and said he cleaned Lauren’s flat to help Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) but failed to consider not everyone – most importantly Swain – would believe him.
In the cafe, following his arrest, Roy tells Nina (Mollie Gallagher) and Yasmeen (Shelley King) that he’s been asked to go back to the police station to be interviewed, unaware that an internet sleuth is listening in on the conversation.
Meanwhile, after hearing David (Jack P Shepherd) and Shona (Julia Goulding) speculate over Lauren’s dad’s far right group possibly being involved, Max (Paddy Bever) decides to secretly pay Reece a visit in prison.
Back in the cafe, Roy finds himself all alone apart from two dodgy men sitting at a table. When one of them gets up and locks the door, Roy realises he’s in danger.
In the week, Nina is appalled when she reads about some sleuths who’ve been digging at the bat roost site, hoping to find some evidence to put Roy in the frame for Lauren’s murder.
After loading his car boot with shovels and bin bags, Roy heads to the roost site, hoping everything will be okay.
However, when he returns, Swain is there once again, ready to take him to the station.
Poor Roy continues to make things worse for himself as later, while at Lauren’s vigil, he addresses the crows and speaks fondly of the young woman. Moments after, a group of lads make nasty comments and start filming him on their phones.
As things get out of hand, Evelyn, Carla (Alison King) and Nina urge Roy to keep a low profile until the police find out what really happened to Lauren and who killed her.
But will Roy listen?
Or will he continue to inadvertently look like he has ulterior motives?
