Coronation Street spoilers: Tim Metcalfe assures Steve McDonald that he’s sexy and offers him a promise
Best friend Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) was on hand to give Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) some loving reassurance in Friday’s (February 9) episode of Coronation Street.
At the start of the week, Steve returned to the cobbles after time away in France. He was determined to put the spark back into his marriage with Tracy (Kate Ford) and decided an afternoon of french cheeses and wine was the way forward.
However, when Steve approached the flower shop and found Tommy (Matt Milburn) and Tracy inside, he ended up inviting Tommy over as well, completely oblivious to the fact he had just been admiring more than Tracy’s hydrangeas.
‘There’s really good chemistry between Tommy and Tracy,’ Matt Milburn told us.
‘I think he likes her sparky nature, her quick retorts and her banter is very sharp. He likes being kept on his toes. She’s not an easy target in ways. I just think that they seem to have this chemistry between them that none of them see coming. Maybe because she’s off the menu, that unconsciously attracts him more.’
In tonight’s episode, Steve was still certain he could reconnect with Tracy, but was let down when she said she couldn’t attend the lunch due to being stuck at the flower market.
In the pub, Tim realised something was on Steve’s mind, but wasn’t expecting him to ask if his best mate finds him sexy.
‘You’re alright for somebody who’s 50’, he replied.
After clearing up that he’s actually 49, Steve expressed the fear that Tracy had gone off him. Tim responded and said when he had his impotence problems, his sex life with Sally (Sally Dynevor) was severely impacted. He said that with time, Tracy would soon be ‘back to normal’.
But unless the affair ends and their relationship gets back on track, Tracy’s reluctancy to be intimate with Steve isn’t going to change anytime soon.
With Tommy Orpington sticking around after securing a few more painting and decorating jobs, it probably won’t be long until poor Steve is left realising his footballing hero isn’t as amazing as he thinks.
