Coronation Street spot ‘eerie’ clue and ‘rumble’ Abi Webster’s vile sex tape culprit
Abi and the soap's viewers have different theories on who could be responsible
SLEUTHING Coronation Street viewers think they’ve cracked who’s behind Abi Webster’s deepfake porn nightmare.
Abi (Sally Carman) was horrified during Wednesday’s episode when her friend Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) revealed he’d been sent a revealing email featuring her in a sex video.
Former drug addict Abi feared her past was haunting her having admitted to blackouts before.
Unbeknownst to Abi, however, the sex tape is actually a nasty deepfake, with someone out to get her.
For the uninitiated, a deepfake is a video in which a person’s face or body is digitally altered so they appear to be someone else.
Meanwhile Abi is left in a state after arguing with her husband Kevin (Michael Le Vell), who has fallen for the deepfake video hook, line and sinker.
Now determined to find the culprit, Abi has threatened to get the police involved.
In upcoming scenes, Abi is left even more distraught after discovering the video has been shared on other websites.
Her situation went from bad to worse when Dean, her former dealer, rocked up out of the blue asking for money.
Fellow resident Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) witnessed the exchange as Abi ordered Dean to leave.
Considering their history, Abi becomes convinced that Dean is the mastermind behind the vile video and later confronts him.
However, fans aren’t as convinced and have a different suspect in their sights – none other than Cassie.
Introduced as Tyrone’s believed-to-be-dead biological mother, Cassie has made her interest in Kevin previously known.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one viewer speculated: “I bet it was Cassie who made the sex tape of Abi. That’s pure evil.”
Another commented: “Bet Cassie has made the deep fake,” while a third agreed: “I knew it Cassie is all over this Abi tape thing.
“She really is the worst. I hope this is the beginning of the end for her. She’s pointless.”
A fourth suggested: “I reckon Cassie is behind the Abi tapes, she’s be trying to set her up since she arrived.”
