Coronation Street star Ben Price shares major blunder from his first day of filming
"Someone's got to be fired for this."
Coronation Street star Ben Price has shared that a major blunder took place during his first ever day of filming on the show, which almost prevented him from getting onto set.
The star made his first appearance as Nick Tilsley in 2009, after taking over the role from Adam Rickitt, and he has revealed all on his On the Sofa podcast about an incident on his first day on the ITV soap.

“I wasn’t let in on my first day,” he recalled. “I went to the gate, it’s my first day on the street, I get there and I go, ‘Hey mate! I’ve just come to work’. [They say] ‘Oh right, what’s your name?’ [I said] ‘Ben Price’ and he looks down the list.
“The list is supporting actors, not call sheet. Well you’re not on the list’. So I went, ‘Oh, so does that mean I can’t come in?’ and he went, ‘Well, yeah!’ And he didn’t let me in! I had to ring up the desk at work, [producer] Marc Hough answered it.
He then joked: “I went, ‘Hey, Mark. I can’t get into work. I’m stood at the gate. Someone’s got to be fired for this. I’ve never been so offended. I’m going back home. You need to sort this s**t out’.
“Then eventually he let me in and he [Marc] said to the guy, ‘He’s playing Nick Tilsley’ and the guy went, ‘Well he’s not on the list'”, the actor said.

Whilst Price’s first day on set could have gone more smoothly, his character will also find himself in a spot of bother next week as he prepares to propose to Leanne Battersby.
After spending the day shopping for an engagement ring with Toyah Battersby, the pair return home to find that Leanne’s car has been crashed by a drunk Simon Barlow, throwing the household into turmoil.
