Coronation Street star heaps praise on ‘amazing’ real-life fiancée: ‘My partner in crime’

Coronation Street star Calum Lill has shared his love for fiancée Roberta McClarron in a sweet social media post.

The actor, known for his role as solicitor Joel Deering in the ITV soap, announced his proposal, and how one of his co-stars helped him, in June.

The actress in question? Dolly-Rose Campbell, who allowed him to borrow a tight-fitting swimming costume for the occasion. We don’t think we want to know.

Calum has had quite a year on the cobbles, with Joel now exposed as Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) abuser.

When on-screen fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) discovered what he had done, she promptly ended their engagement, before teaming up with the teen and DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) to bring him down.

In scenes set to air this week, she receives a voice message from Joel, which Swain suggests could be a suicide note.

Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) tracks his whereabouts to a bridge, where he finds his car and a note attached to the dashboard. Later, Swain is forced to break the news that they are now looking for Joel’s body.

Is this really the end for him? Dee-Dee doesn’t think so, and immediately starts searching for answers.

Now, ahead of Calum’s apparent ‘exit’, he’s shared a heartwarming series of photos to Instagram, praising Roberta for standing by him during the busiest year of his acting career.

‘Ah my partner in crime,’ he began. ‘For the last year I’ve been totally focused on my career which has meant you have come second and I’ve hardly seen you.’

‘Some people might have gotten upset or p*ssed off at this, but you have done nothing but support me in chasing my dream.

‘On top of your own job, you’ve looked after our home. You’ve done pretty much all of the cooking & cleaning, all my washing, the pots, the decorating, and you’ve taken it in your stride and never grumbled even on the many days when I was gone before you woke up and got into bed after you were asleep.’

He continued: ‘You did this because you knew it’s what I needed and you supported me completely. I’m so grateful to have you in my life and that you agreed to marry me.

‘Thanks for being amazing. Here’s some of my favourite pics.’

The snaps in question show them on holiday, at a festival and stood outside of the famous Rovers Return Inn.

We do know that he is set to leave soon, but whether or not Joel’s actually dead remains to be seen!
