Coronation Street teen left to die as Roy Cropper is handed devastating news amid two shock comebacks in new spoilers
The murder mystery of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) is hit with another dark twist in next week’s Coronation Street – as Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) is sickened and knocked for six by the return of her paedophile abuser Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper).
Roy Cropper (David Neilson) is currently in prison awaiting trial for Lauren’s murder but, coming face to face with sick Nathan after his release from prison, Bethany becomes convinced that he is connected.
As a showdown unfolds, Nathan’s presence is deeply unsettling – and things are going to get very unsavoury indeed.
Nathan isn’t the only familiar face fans will recognise as part of Lauren’s storyline as Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) re-connects with Nicky Wheatley (Kimberly Hart-Simpson) again, when she has information that could help trace the missing teen.
There’s further trauma away from this saga on the cobbles too as Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall) continues to struggle following his bullying ordeal and suicidal thoughts – and suffers a panic attack.
And when he comes across a stash of Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) pills, disaster strikes and his life is left hanging in the balance.
Monday May 6
When Joseph asks Liam if things have improved at school, Liam struggles to breathe and reaches for his inhaler. Joseph urges him to tell Maria about his panic attacks but Liam refuses as he doesn’t want to worry her. While Joseph keeps lookout, Liam rummages in the cupboards for sweets.
He’s intrigued to find Paul’s stash of Benzo pills and puts them in his pocket. In the Rovers, Gary watches Sarah with concern as she knocks back the wine. When he spots her heading home with another bottle, he goes over.
Liam returns home to find Gary not back. Feeling a panic attack coming on, he takes out Paul’s Benzo pills. Meanwhile Billy discovers the missing pills. When Joseph reveals that Liam was looking for sweets, Billy panics.
Alone in the flat, Liam lies unconscious, the pill bottle next to him.
Roy’s gutted when Dee-dee breaks the news that the police have had no luck tracing Lauren’s necklace and mystery boyfriend so they’re back to square one. Daniel tells Ken that he’s arranged to meet Nicky because as an ex se-worker as she may have news regarding Lauren. Ken warns him to be careful.
Outside the flat, Bernie comes face to face with Denny, pushing Paul’s wheelchair. Denny makes out he’s taking it for a service but Bernie doesn’t believe a word and threatens to call the police.
Alya spells out to Adam that their kiss has ruined her career prospects. Rich meets up with Alya and confirms that the work placement in Dublin is still hers as Adam has assured him that any misunderstanding was entirely his fault.
When Glenda tells a guilty George how she desperately wants to raise the money to buy the Little Big Shotz business off Estelle, he offers to help her apply for a bank loan. But as he looks over her accounts he realises there’s no way she’ll ever get a loan.
Wednesday May 8
Bobby, Max, Bethany and Beth gather in the precinct to watch the police reconstruction of Lauren’s last known movements. Bethany notices a crowd of people and is horrified to recognise Nathan amongst them. As she struggles to contain her emotions, Daniel finds Bethany at home clearly distressed.
Bethany admits that she’s convinced she spotted Nathan at the precinct. Daniel assures Bethany that Nathan is in prison and it was her mind playing tricks.
Nicky calls round and reveals that she’s off to meet a girl called Ellie who was groomed as a teenager and might have information about Lauren.
Maria explains to Billy and Paul how Liam has been having suicidal thoughts. Maria returns home to find Sarah and Gary looking shifty. She picks up some things and surreptitiously places a camera on the side.
As Gary sees Sarah out, they hug and agree to keep their distance from now on. Maria watches them on her phone and her face darkens.
Glenda puts a proposition to Estelle, that she buys Little Big Shotz on credit and pays her back in instalments. Concerned, George scuppers the deal by saying she’d have no means to pay the monthly instalments.
Glenda moans to Todd about George’s act of betrayal and Todd assumes she’s referring to Archie’s will. When Glenda demands to know what will, Todd realises his mistake.
As Adam chats to Alya, Yasmeen wonders if she’s going to miss him. When he hands her an expensive law book, wishing her well in Dublin, will Alya be able to bring herself to leave?
Billy and Paul are despondent following their meeting with the council about the MND funding cuts, telling Bernie they need to look for other ways to fundraise.
Friday May 10
As Daniel continues insisting it’s her mind playing tricks on her, Bethany pauses the video of the police reconstruction and zooms in to show Daniel a close up of Nathan. In the police station, DS Swain confirms to Bethany that Nathan was released months ago.
A furious Bethany urges her to haul him in for questioning, convinced he’s Lauren’s murderer. After doing some research and discovering that Nathan is working on a building site near the precinct, Bethany and Daniel track him down.
As Nathan rounds the corner, he stops in his tracks. Bethany’s shocked to come face to face with her abuser. Bethany sees red and accuses Nathan of murdering Lauren.
Adam warns Glenda that suing George for half the business would be costly, there’s no guarantee she’d win and she’d be best to forget it. Glenda’s crushed and afterwards walks slap bang into Michael, spilling her drink down her front.
When Rupert from Rest Easy calls at the undertakers and registers his interest in buying the business, George and Todd are furious to discover Glenda has put it up for sale.
Having kept up the karaoke-thon all night, Paul, Billy and Gemma are dead on their feet and tell Bernie that she’s done a great job. The weight of her guilty secret hanging over her, Bernie tells Gemma she’s sorry that she’s been such a rubbish mother. Gemma’s perplexed.
Gary’s hoping for a reconciliation, but Maria makes it clear that’s not on the cards. Gary’s gutted. A fraught Maria confides in Kirk how Liam has been for his first therapy session and she feels like the worst mum in the world.
As Leanne gulps back some pills, a worried Nick confides in Toyah that there’s £200 missing from the joint account. Toyah suspects Leanne’s spent it on her institute nonsense.
