Coronation Street to air special episode ahead of sad death as actor speaks out
Coronation Street is lining up a sad special episode for Paul Foreman and Billy Mayhew in new ITV soap scenes next week, with actor Peter Ash addressing the storyline
Coronation Street viewers will see emotional scenes next week on the ITV soap, with a special episode.
Focussing on Paul Foreman as he continues to deteriorate after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease, the episode sees him and husband Billy Mayhew wanting to make the most of the time he has left. The character will pass away soon in devastating scenes, and next week he and Billy will attempt to do the things he loves while he still can.
The episode will follow Paul as he receives some distressing news, and the scenes will focus on the new changes to his life ahead of his sad death. Viewers can see the episode next Friday, as actors Peter Ash and Daniel Brocklebank take centre stage.
It comes as actor Peter spoke to The Mirror about his looming exit from the show, and he detailed the special episode. He told us: “It was amazing to film but tough because it was so emotional and hard but a beautiful episode and it was beautifully written.

“I’m looking forward to seeing that, it was great to work on. I’ll be sad to go but so grateful to be trusted with that storyline. It’s mixed emotions.” Peter also hinted it wouldn’t be long until his character will die on screen – and appeared to let slip when it will happen.
“People have reacted amazing to it. The response has been fantastic. It’s been tough, it’s been tiring. It’s been a long road but we’re nearly at the end now. I’m so grateful to be part of the storyline and raise awareness,” he added.
Speaking about his exit, he said: “Absolutely, yeah, it’s a bit of a double edged sword, you know? Really sad to go, but like, really grateful that they trusted me with this storyline. So, some mixed emotions about leaving.
“Working with Daniel from day one has been amazing. We have so much fun. And yeah, obviously because he has a personal connection to MND, he’s a great source of information and insight. And I’ll very much miss working with him.”
