Coronation Street viewers baffled as huge character ‘disappears’ during family crisis
Coronation Street viewers were left wondering where iconic character Gail Platt was as her family were told that Bethany Platt was in a critical condition on the ITV soap
Coronation Street fans were glued to their screens as Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), rushed to Turkey to deal with her daughter Bethany Platt’s (Lucy Fallon) surgery nightmare.

While Sarah’s brother David Platt (Jack Shepherd) and their gran Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) spoke about the ongoing situation, there was a big question mark over another family members whereabouts.
The mysterious absence of Gail Platt, who Helen Worth has famously portrayed for decades, sent viewers flocking to Twitter seeking answers.
As whispers swirled about Helen Worth’s much-anticipated departure from the iconic role after an epic 50-year stint, fans began wondering if they’d already witnessed Gail’s covert exit from the Street, reports the Liverpool Echo.
It wasn’t long before people watching took to Twitter as one person said: “Notice how super nurse Aggie and Gail have completely gone missing from #Corrie”
Another asked: “Has Gail now finished? I thought she was going to have a big storyline?”
Someone else commented: “Can anyone remind me where Gail is supposed to be??”
Wondering why the soap star hasn’t been in the soap, another tweeted: “Where is Gail?”
Some fans couldn’t hide their annoyance, with critical tweets like: “Bethany is literally dying and they still can’t stick Gail into a scene?”
Others just seemed puzzled, asking: “Has Gail left already?”
Back in June, when the news broke that Helen would relinquish her role as Gail, it was teased that a grand storyline on the horizon.
ITV announced that the actress would be shooting her farewell scenes in July, with fans expected to see them later in the year.
The soap legend revealed: “This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world.
“I made the decision at the start of the year and spoke to the producers who were very kind and understanding.
“I have been truly blessed to have been given the most incredible scripts week in and week out and to have worked with fantastic actors, directors and a brilliant crew.
“The past 50 years have flown by and I don’t think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet.”
