Coronation Street villain Rowan Cunliffe’s downfall ‘sealed’ as Tracy Barlow’s plan is rumbled
Soap viewers believe Tracy Barlow may unleash her rage onto Rowan Cunliffe after finding out he has been trying to take advantage of her daughter Amy.
The Weatherfield legend played by Kate Ford recently came back to the cobbles after leaving Coronation Street to start afresh in Spain with her new beau Tommy Orpington.
But her return has sparked tension at No.1 as she clashes with his carer Cassie Plummer (played by Claire Sweeney), who also happens to share chemistry with Tracy’s estranged husband Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson). When asked about her relationship with Tommy, who has remained behind in Spain, Tracy has awkwardly kept the lid on all the details, claiming she came back to Weatherfield to pay a visit to Ken and her daughter Amy. However, a new theory suggests she has an endgame.

Viewers of the ITV soap have taken to Reddit to share their thoughts as they wondered why Tracy really came back to the cobbles and a group of viewers suggested she could be involved in Rowan Cunliffe’s downfall. The villain portrayed by Emrhys Cooper has been taking advantage of Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) for several months, managing to take whopping amounts of cash from her.
In recent scenes, however, and after growing distant from her loved ones due to Rowan’s controlling influence on her life, Leanne has figured out he may not be trustworthy but he has already found someone else he could plant his hooks into. Spoilers have confirmed that Tracy’s daughter Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) will be chased up by Rowan to invest her life savings into The Altovalent Institute.
This was enough for one fan to claim Amy’s murderous mother may have a role to play in Rowan’s comeuppance: “Please tell me this ends with Nick saying to Rowan ‘that’s Tracey Barlow, Amy’s mum – Google her’ and then we never see him again.” Another added: “Maybe Tracey will just remove him from living. for trying to lure her daughter into a cult. We can hope.”
A second theory emerged, however, as the majority of viewers believe she may have returned to get her hands on Ken Barlow’s (William Roache) recent lottery win cash.
One viewer penned: “My first thought was that she somehow got wind of Ken’s windfall. Although, I am inclined to think that he might have made it up in an attempt to lure Tracy back to the street, for whatever reason.” Another added: “Clearly she found out about daddy’s jackpot win”, while a third echoed: “First thought was the windfall money too.”
Meanwhile, one handful of viewers believed Kate may have reprised her role in the Manchester-based drama as her alter ego could be seeking Steve back. “I think her and Tommy broke up and she misses Steve. Honestly, I wish her and Steve hadn’t split, they were so funny together”, one viewer lamented.
A second theorised: “Her and Tommy broke up, she comes back to get with Steve so she isn’t alone, Steve chooses Cassie over Tracey”, prompting a third to respond: “So pretty much a repeat of the choosing Becky over Michelle storyline but with even more unpleasant characters personality wise.”
