Coronation Street’s Bethany Platt reels as major character is struck by a car and left to die before her very eyes
Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) will be left shaken in Coronation Street next week, as confirmed in the accompanying pictures, after someone she knows very well is hit by a car.
Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) will rue the day he crossed Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) after he’s struck by an oncoming vehicle while trying to rescue both Bethany and soon-to-be-ex-wife Sarah (Tina O’Brien).
The solicitor, as fans know, is determined to get Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) off the cobbles following the gangster’s fling with Sarah last year.
Damon, however, has made it quite clear that he’s here to stay, taking great delight in rubbing Adam’s nose in it as he moved in with Sarah at her Red Bank apartment.
Out of options, Adam turned to Harvey, Damon’s even more sadistic brother who is behind bars for his role in the death of Natasha Blakeman (Rachel Leskovac).
Harvey agreed to help in exchange for Adam securing his release from prison, which meant working on an appeal that would see the lawyer frame terminally ill cancer patient John for Natasha’s death.
Adam resorted to some pretty dodgy measures to get Harvey released but, ultimately, he reconsiders, deleting Harvey’s appeal document.
Word of his betrayal gets back to Harvey on Monday (March 4), with the criminal telling Adam that he’s a ‘dead man’.
After making a phone call to an accomplice, Harvey sets in motion a revenge plot that will hit both Adam and Damon where it hurts, putting Sarah and Bethany in the firing line.
‘[Sarah’s] got her back to the car so she doesn’t see it coming but it’s flying towards her,’ actress Tina O’Brien said of the upsetting scenes in question.
‘As a viewer, knowing what Adam’s got himself involved in, you know this driver is coming right for her.’
Adam happens to be in the company of both Sarah and Bethany when the car comes speeding around the corner and thus he bravely pushes them out of the way.
As a result, he collides with the car, getting knocked down and left for dead. Pictures show the harrowing scenes as Bethany and Sarah reel with shock.
The question is: will Adam pull through?
Or has Harvey managed to claim yet another life amid his dastardly reign of terror from behind bars?
