Coronation Street’s Bethany Platt to be caught out over Daniel Osbourne betrayal
He will discover her secret...
Bethany Platt will be caught out on Coronation Street following her betrayal of Daniel Osbourne.
The character returned to Weatherfield on New Year’s Eve (December 31), and has become close with Daniel ever since the breakdown of his relationship with Daisy Midgeley.
Unbeknownst to him, Bethany has been struggling financially ever since her move to London, and has fed gossip to Chit-Chat Magazine in order to pay the bills.
In next week’s scenes, Bethany attempts to get information on Daisy and Ryan Connor from Lauren, with the latter unaware that the conversation is being recorded.
Her ruse is discovered later in the week, however, after Daniel answers a call from the editor of the magazine on Bethany’s phone, with the character horrified that his story has been sold without his consent.
Bethany explains her situation to Daniel, but he is left fuming at her deceit – will he be able to forgive her?…
The upcoming developments were recently teased by Lucy Fallon, who first played Bethany in 2015, with the star theorising that the character was motivated by both her desperation and hatred for Daisy.
“Bethany feels a lot of pressure, because she had gone away to London to make something of herself, got a good job while she was there and now she’s lost it all,” said Fallon.
“She’s come back and wasn’t expecting to stay, but realises she has to because she has no money and has to live with her mum rent free. It’s more the embarrassment of it, she wants everyone to be proud of her and think that she’s doing really well.
“Bethany’s initially doing it innocently out of absolute desperation, but also because she’s so intrigued by all of this to do with Daisy. [They] hate each other… I do think subconsciously, Bethany is a little bit obsessed with the story behind Daisy and Daniel.”
