Coronation Street’s Daniel Osbourne to share fears in Lauren Bolton storyline
He's frantic with worry after being quizzed by Swain.
Coronation Street‘s Daniel Osbourne confides in his father Ken Barlow in Friday’s episode (March 15) as the Lauren Bolton mystery continues.
Daniel has been pinpointed as one of the main suspects as the police investigate what happened to Lauren when she disappeared.
Earlier this week, Daniel was called in for questioning by DS Swain after a tip-off from Max Turner about his connection to Lauren.
Daniel was quizzed over his tutoring sessions with Lauren, as well as his history with former student Summer Spellman and sex worker Nicky Wheatley.
In Friday’s episode, Daniel turns to his father Ken for support over what happened. He admits that he hasn’t slept following the news that Lauren’s disappearance is now being treated as a murder investigation.
The teacher expresses his fears that he could be jailed for a murder he didn’t commit if Swain continues to focus the investigation on him.
Vicky Myers, who plays Swain, recently explained why her character is so suspicious of Daniel.
She told us: “[Swain is] quick to investigate Daniel’s history with women – especially the connection with Nicky Wheatley and so on. Max comes into the police station and they have a discussion about that.
“There’s also the incident with Summer and the fact that he was brought in for questioning about improper conduct. So with that, there’s obviously a line of enquiry with him.
“Swain is keen to find out exactly what Daniel’s up to – was he tutoring Lauren for sexual favours? As awful as that sounds, perhaps that’s exactly what’s been going on.
“We’re picking apart these people’s lives and how accepting the community is. But when you put it down on paper, you ask: ‘Is there an ulterior motive with this?’ So Swain is very much on that and wants to look into it further.”
Friday’s episode also sees the police’s attentions turn back to Roy Cropper as Swain thinks he has something to hide.
