Dylan Wilson has been punished after covering for Mason Radcliffe in Coronation Street.
Dylan’s father Sean Tully recently discovered that the teen had been part of Mason’s relentless bullying of Liam Connor Jr. While Dylan has expressed his regret for Liam’s suffering, he has thus far been intimidated by Mason into keeping quiet about what they’ve done.
In Thursday’s (February 29) episode, Sean tried to convince Dylan that it was the right thing to do to tell his teacher Mrs Cranshaw the names of the other bullies.
“Just tell the truth,” Sean begged him. “It’s the only way we can make any of this right.”
Dylan looked set to tell the truth until he received a threatening message from Mason warning him there would be consequences if he confessed what they’d done.
By the time of his school meeting, Mrs Cranshaw was outraged that Dylan was suddenly refusing to give up any names of the bullies. This resulted in him being suspended from school.
Back at home, Sean was equally upset by Dylan’s actions and warned him he would be punished for not coming clean. Sean announced that he was taking away Dylan’s phone and his laptop, before giving him a pad of paper to do all of his schoolwork from now on.
Dylan begged to be able to use his laptop, and while Sean ultimately agreed, he promised he’d be setting up parental controls on the device.
His decision to stick by Mason will end up only hurting Dylan in the end, when he’s framed by the bully for their torment of Liam in scenes airing next week.
A guilt-wracked Dylan will also discover the impact of their bullying on his former friend when he learns Liam considered ending his life recently.
