Helen Worth quit the show after 50 years earlier this year, with her exit said to be airing at the end of this year. But will Gail be killed off in tragic scenes, and what will lead to her leaving her home of five decades?

Actress Helen has revealed her reasons for deciding to leave, saying 50 years felt the right amount of time to be there and say goodbye to the role. Amid scenes teasing a health twist for the character, there’s speculation about how Gail will leave.

Amid earlier reports that she would not die, there was a change-up to how she would be written out following Martin Platt being removed from the storyline. With the arrival of Jesse Chadwick now kicking off her exit months, just how will we be waving goodbye to the soap legend?

Does Gail die?

There’s fears Gail will be killed off, and next week’s spoilers have only heightened those fears. Pictures show the moment a stressed Gail is left in agony and fearing for her life.

After a row with her loved ones over her plans to sell their home, she’s left clutching her arm in pain. Struggling to breathe, Gail will be rushed to hospital as her new love interest Jesse Chadwick calls for an ambulance.

Holding onto her, Jesse rushes to her aid as her worried children feel guilty over putting pressure on her. But will Gail be okay amid her looming exit from the show?

Doomed wedding

As soon as fans of the show learned a love interest was coming in for Gail, they began to speculate they would end up in a bodybag. So to know she’s apparently set to wed Jesse, or plans to, has left many convinced he could die. Long-time viewers of the show know Gail has not had the best luck where romance is concerned, with Martin Platt being the only husband still alive.

All of Gail’s other spouses have been killed off over the years, as well as some former flames too. So given Jesse could be Gail’s next husband, will he meet an eerie fate too?

Conned

Viewers are fearing Jesse could be using Gail for her money, especially as spoilers hinted he was hiding something. Her own family fear he is up to no good, and he’s even accused of stealing Damon Hay’s money.

Spoilers for next week reveal that an escalating row breaks out between Jesse and Gail’s children David and Sarah Platt. Sarah is adamant Jesse is behind it, so when she follows him in an upcoming episode what will she find? Is he conning Gail?

Perhaps Gail will get the happy ending she deserves, with fans hoping she will head off into the sunset with her new man. Could she and Jesse head back to Thailand where they met?

Corrie boss Iain MacLeod recently teased it wouldn’t be doom and gloom for Gail’s farewell, while fans are unsure. Taking to social media, one fan said: “I swear to LUCIFER if our Queen doesn’t get a happy ending.” Another posted: “So hoping for that happy ending for Gail,” as another commented: “A happy ending for Coronation Street legend Gail.”
