Coronation Street has given a hint about the real murderer of Joel Deering through an old photograph of the suspects.
Joel, portrayed by Calum Lill, was confirmed dead after he disappeared following the revelation of his actions towards Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). Fans will recall that Lauren was assaulted by a man, later identified as Joel.
Although Lauren was presumed dead, she survived the assault and fled. Upon her return to clear Roy Cropper’s (David Neilson) name for her disappearance and ‘murder’, it was disclosed that she was carrying Joel’s child.
In an attempt to keep his secret hidden, he continued to provide her with money and ‘support’ in return for her silence. However, eventually, the truth emerged, and it was revealed to everyone that Joel was responsible for Lauren’s attack and near-death experience.
But now, the situation has reversed, and Joel is the one who’s dead. His body was discovered in a river, initially believed to be a suicide, reports the Liverpool Echo.
He was found with severe head injuries, confirming he had been murdered – but by who?
DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) is currently heading the investigation after DS Swain (Vicky Myers) was compelled to step aside. However, he has several suspects and seems no closer to determining who took the law into their own hands and killed Joel.
The prime suspects currently include the two women closest to Joel – Lauren Bolton and his former fiancé Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling Brown), but could either of them be responsible for Joel’s demise?
Ronnie (Vinta Morgan) and Mason (Luca Toolan) are also under suspicion, but are they guilty? Ed (Trevor Michael Georges), Dee-Dee’s father, is also being interrogated. A flashback discloses that Ed and Ronnie disappeared into the night with a crowbar, while another flashback depicts Dee-Dee confronting Joel on that ill-fated night – but did they murder him?
Sharon Marshall, the soap expert on This Morning, has seemingly suggested that the culprit might actually be someone else entirely.
An old spoiler photo featuring four of them – Mason, Ed, Ronnie, and Dee-Dee – all gathered in the police station has re-emerged, with Sharon implying that it could be an entirely different person, given there’s an empty seat in the picture.
Could this be a hint that it’s someone we least suspect?
