Coronation Street’s Kate Ford back on set for soap return – and her comeback is imminent
Actress Kate Ford has been tipped to be on her way back to Coronation Street in surprise scenes as a source has confirmed that her return to the cobbles will air in days.
Spoilers have teased another return to Coronation Street with one source confirming that Kate Ford has returned to the set of the long-running show.
The actress rose to fame on the ITV drama as troublemaker Tracy Barlow, wreaking havoc during her long years on Coronation Street. And after battling several women to get to Steve McDonald, marrying the cabbie and forming a family with him at No.1, the Preston’s Petals florist decided to leave Weatherfield with former footballer boyfriend Tommy Orpington.
Tracy’s decision came as a shock for Steve (Simon Gregson) but, in more recent scenes of the Manchester-based programme, the soap stalwart temporarily returned before leaving the cobbles again.
Now, spoilers for next week have hinted at a potential return for Tracy Barlow, as she’s set to find out Ken (William Roache) will struggle to pay for his carer, Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney).

While viewers of the long-running show will have to wait and see if Tracy will really return, a source has told The Sun that Kate Ford was spotted on the Corrie set in Salford. “Kate Ford has been spotted at the studios by fans – which means Tracy Barlow is back”, the insider told the publication. And her comeback will be aired in a matter of days: “She’ll make her shock return next week – which will surprise fans as she’s been away since leaving for Spain in summer.”
New spoilers for scenes due to air next week tease Tracy will make her way back to the cobbles, but there are no spoiler images of her arrival. Her ‘return’ is rather abrupt with no mention of her being back, just that she is involved in a storyline with her dad Ken Barlow.
Tracy left earlier this year for a new life abroad with Tommy Orpington. Recently she came back to the show after a fallout with Tommy, before she left again to be with him.. Could the couple have encountered a final and unsurmountable hurdle?
The spoiler reveals that Cassie Plummer is dropped as Ken’s carer due to money woes, with his family still convinced she’s using him for the cash. But when Ken feels unwell, he tells Cassie he’ll pay her an extra pound an hour if she will be his carer again. It seems Cassie considers it, only for Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) and Steve McDonald to spill all to Tracy.
It’s revealed that Tracy orders Cassie to leave for good, telling her to stop sponging off Ken. With Cassie gone, Tracy is adamant she’ll look after her father, but when he suffers a nosebleed and admits he feels awful they are forced to head to the hospital. What will Tracy do and will Cassie be gone for good?
