Coronation Street’s Paul Foreman left devastated by robbery setback
Paul's laptop is stolen.
Coronation Street‘s Paul Foreman will be left devastated in upcoming scenes following a robbery at the pub.
In scenes airing next week, two masked robbers will break into the Rovers Return while Glenda Shuttleworth is locking up.
Not only will they snatch the night’s takings, but they’ll also steal several valuables left in the pub – including Paul’s laptop.
Before the break-in, Paul continues to prepare for a time in the future when he will lose his speech due to the progression of his Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
He’s at the flower shop flat where he plays back some messages he pre-recorded on his laptop, though Billy thinks the messages still need some work.
Later on, Paul and Billy call in at the Rovers to retrieve Paul’s laptop after he left it there, but they’re devastated to learn it was stolen during the robbery. Will Paul now have to start from scratch?
Discussing how the robbery will also affect her character Glenda, Jodie Prenger told Digital Spy: “Glenda is saving face and she doesn’t want to admit to that experience getting to her, which we all don’t.
“It’s something that I hope raises truths with a lot of people that have gone through experiences like that and go, ‘Ah, we’ll be fine, I’m fine, oh no, I’m completely fine’.”
In more emotional scenes for Paul, he’ll be told by his therapist that it might be time for him to start using a feeding tube as his condition is starting to impact his ability to eat solid food.
Paul tries to assure Billy and Bernie that he will be fine as long as they can liquidate his food for him, but the sight of his pureed food during Summer Spellman’s goodbye meal leaves him on the verge of tears.
