Coronation Street’s Roy Cropper to spark further suspicion after arrest in Lauren plot
Things are set to get worse for Roy as Lauren is still missing.
Roy Cropper is set to face more scrutiny in Coronation Street over Lauren Bolton’s disappearance.
As police realise there is more to Lauren going missing than meets the eye, a full murder investigation is launched with DS Swain identifying Roy as her prime suspect.
Roy was the last known person to see Lauren alive, when she told him that she was planning to leave Weatherfield.
Bobby Crawford raised the alarm feeling that something wasn’t right shortly after he visited her flat. After traces of blood were found at the scene, foul play is suspected.
After being questioned by the police, Roy is set to be arrested in scenes airing tomorrow (March 15), but things are set to get much worse for him as the investigation progresses.
In upcoming scenes, press attention surrounding Lauren’s disappearance starts to affect the local community. Roy’s niece Nina Lucas is disgusted to find out that amateur sleuths have been digging at a bat roost site, trying to find evidence of Roy’s involvement.
Alarmed to hear what has happened, Roy loads his car boot with shovels and bin bags to check the roost site is okay and any wildlife hasn’t been disturbed. But as he returns, he finds Swain waiting for him at the station.
Vicky Myers, who plays Swain, opened up to Digital Spy about whether she believes the beloved soap character could be behind the horrific crime.
“The evidence is there to suggest it. But I think for Swain, she’s never met anybody like Roy before and it makes her feel quite uncomfortable,” she said.
“But it’s not really for her to decide. Swain’s job is to collate all of the evidence, corroborate everything and pass it onto CPS and then court. So she’s just got to do her job and make sure she can get enough evidence as she possibly can.
“Regardless of what other people are saying and if they’re championing Roy’s corner, that’s her job and she takes it seriously.”
