Coronation Street’s Roy left to die in hospital dash – as he gets an unexpected visitor
There’s another rough week incoming for Roy Cropper (David Neilson) in Coronation Street as he’s rushed to hospital after an altercation with some thugs.
When will he ever catch a break?!
Weeks on from his release from prison after being implicated for the murder of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), Roy is still hiding himself away from friends and family for fears of his name being tarnished further.
As we all know, sinister solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill) was responsible for her death and we’re still left needing the final puzzle pieces to establish exactly what happened on the day she vanished.
Viewers of the ITV soap watched in horror as internet sleuths branded Roy as perverted and ‘creepy’, invading his personal space to get footage of him sleep walking and even going as far to attack him the street.
They also insinuated that his relationship with youngster Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) was unusual, and as a result, Roy has cut ties with the chess-loving teen.
On another occasion, he was blamed for the death of much-loved wife Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh).
In upcoming scenes, the same trolls are back – and with a vengeance after seeing he’s a free man.
Next week, Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) tries to get him out and about, and lies to say that she is feeling unwell.
Heading out of the cafe to take some homemade soup to No. 8, a gang of yobs crowd around Roy and begin to call him a serious of horrendous names.
In the middle of the commotion, he stumbles to the floor and Carla rushes to his aid – and it’s clear that he’s been injured by the altercation.
Shona admits that she was never ill, and as a result Roy sends her and Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman), who was in on the plan, packing.
Whilst the two explain themselves to his niece Nina (Mollie Gallagher), they’re startled to see an ambulance bolt around the corner and head to the café. With the blue lights ringing outside, the emergency service workers quickly give Roy CPR to save his life.
Have the internet sleuths returned for round two?
Later in the week, after being admitted to the hospital, Roy continues to be in a precarious state and is drifting out of consciousness… and a visitor sits at his bedside.
When Nina arrives for visiting time, she is alarmed by the mystery person’s presence, and can’t tell whether her uncle is hallucinating or not.
Who does Roy think he has seen?
