Coronation Street’s Toyah Battersby finds herself in trouble next week on the ITV soap, as her secret comes back to haunt her.
She’s suddenly arrested and hauled in for questioning over something from her past, that was recently revisited. But spoilers tease the abrupt arrest could be linked to new villain Rowan Cunliffe, and a possible revenge.
Viewers know that Toyah is out to prove that Rowan and his ‘wellness institute’ are a scam, with her keen to expose them. Her sister Leanne Battersby has been reeled in by Rowan, who has taught her ways to deal with her trauma with special methods.
Leanne vanished to a mystery retreat for weeks and now she’s back, while Rowan knows all about what has happened to her in the past. Toyah fears he’s using her and is conning her out of money, but her efforts to expose him could lead to horrifying scenes.
Just weeks ago on the ITV soap, Toyah confirmed the devastating truth about her stillborn baby daughter who she’d buried in the park. Toyah explained that decades ago when she was 19, she fell pregnant after being raped and the baby was stillborn.
Toyah gave birth at home before burying her daughter at the park, and she never told a single person about Rose or what had happened. It was only recently when she feared the baby would be found that she confided in brother-in-law Nick Tilsley about what happened, with Leanne also finding out.
But has Leanne revealed Toyah’s trauma to Rowan, and will he cruelly use it against her? Just as the sisters come to blows over the institute, Rowan issues threats to Toyah over apparent defamation.
Toyah is told she will be sued if she doesn’t drop her vendetta, but she’s keen to make Leanne see sense. Suddenly as she continues her plan, the police arrive and newcomer Kit arrests Toyah for murder after the body of a baby is found buried in the park.
