Coronation Street’s Tracy McDonald to announce exit from Weatherfield
Tracy's reunion with Steve quickly goes awry.
Coronation Street‘s Tracy McDonald will surprise her family next week when she announces that she’s leaving Weatherfield – immediately after getting back together with husband Steve.
After Tracy’s affair with former footballer Tommy Orpington was exposed, she vowed that her marriage to Steve was over and appeared to be relishing her new romance with Tommy.
However, the revelation that Tommy is moving to Spain to take a new coaching job has left Tracy upset and convinced her that the short-lived relationship is over.
But in scenes that will air on Monday, April 1 and Tuesday, April 2, there is a new twist in the storyline as Steve arrives at No.1 to find a letter to Tracy from Tommy.
When he reads it and discovers that Tommy is inviting Tracy to move to Spain with him, Steve quickly hides the letter.
Meanwhile, Tracy admits to daughter Amy Barlow over lunch in the Bistro that she misses having a man in her life.
When Steve returns home again later, he’s surprised to find Tracy there. He reaches into his pocket to get Tommy’s letter, but he’s stopped in his tracks when Tracy suddenly announces that she wants them to get back together. She assures Steve that her fling with Tommy was just a stupid mistake, promising him that she’s back for good.
Delighted, Steve rushes out to buy a celebratory bottle of wine, while a subdued Tracy watches him go. When Steve announces to Dev Alahan that he and Tracy are back together, Dev is horrified and refuses to serve him.
After suggesting that they go over to The Rovers instead, Tracy heads out and Steve makes the drastic decision to burn Tommy’s letter, determined to save his marriage for good. Will he really be able to hide the truth from Tracy?
Later in the week, the situation has completely changed and Tracy is calling at No.1 for the rest of her things. Tracy admits to Amy, Ken Barlow and Daniel Osbourne just how much she’s going to miss them all, confirming that she’s leaving Weatherfield behind.
Ken suggests that the family head out to The Rovers for a farewell drink, where Tracy’s loved ones raise a toast to her and wish her success with her new life in Spain.
Sadly, Steve isn’t enjoying himself as he buries his head in his newspaper, trying to hide how hurt he is to be losing Tracy once again, while Amy feels awful for her dad.
Will Tracy really move away from her family to pursue a new life with Tommy?
