Corrie confirms another shock exit as beloved character leaves — but in brutal way
Coronation Street has appeared to confirm that another much-loved character is not returning to the soap after nearly a year off-screen - and fans are fuming at their send off
Coronation Street fans have been left baffled as a ‘missing’ character’s exit has appeared to be confirmed.
Aggie Bailey, played by Lorna Laidlaw, first rocked up to the cobbles back in 2019, along with the rest of the Bailey clan. However, the nurse hasn’t been seen on screen since June last year.
Fans will recall how she left the cobbles at the time to care for an ill relative in Birmingham. But Aggie has not come back – and it’s looking likely she never will.
Last month, Aggie’s husband Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) decided to see Aggie in Brum, after his relapse into his gambling addiction. He has lost pretty much everything as a result of his actions and now has to settle all of his debts.
And in Wednesday’s episode (April 5) Ed returned to the street but had some bad news. He revealed to his daughter Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) that Aggie wasn’t coming back and had ended things with Ed.
He told his son Michael: “I tried. I didn’t just roll over. I begged.” He tearfully added: “She’s even given up her job at Wealthy General,” referring to the fact that she worked as a nurse in the area’s hospital.
Fans of the soap were left fuming at Aggie’s send-off. Rushing over to X, formerly known as Twitter, plenty aired their thoughts.
Viewers were disappointed by her send-off and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to make their feelings known. One person said: “There we have it folks Aggie Bailey is confirmed to be gone for a good nine months after vanishing from screens.
“I’d love to know the behind-the-scenes story of whatever the hell happened.” Someone else chimed in and added: “I actually liked Aggie, shame we won’t see her again”. A third mused: “So Aggie is gone? Let down. Bye, Lorna Laidlaw.”
Another fan wrote: “So Aggie has been absent for almost a year and they’re just writing her out never to be seen again.”
