Corrie fans say ‘something doesn’t add up’ as they twig sinister Roy Cropper twist

Coronation Street fans have shared their concerns for Roy Cropper after pointing out a sinister twist in the evidence surrounding Lauren Bolton's disappearance

Coronation Street fans are fearing for Roy Cropper (David Neilson) after pointing out a missed piece of evidence in the case surrounding Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) disappearance. Roy was falsely accused of murdering Lauren earlier this year after she went missing, but he eventually was proven innocent.

Fans know that Joel Deering (Calum Lill) was behind Lauren’s sudden exit, with the villain having tormented her and attacked her. Joel has now been caught out by police, and charged with drugging Lauren and harming her unborn son Frankie after DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) found undeniable evidence against him with her daughter Betsy’s help.

However, viewers are now questioning if a piece of damning evidence putting Roy in the frame could surface. The character cleaned Lauren’s flat shortly before she went missing, which was deemed suspicious, and now fans fear he left some DNA behind.

Taking to Reddit, one person asked: “Am I just being stupid or has Roy’s DNA on the condom still not been explained. I mean we all know it was Joel by now but Roy had his DNA on the packet. We saw him have the gloves on when cleaning the apartment/flat so how did it get there if he’s done nothing wrong?”

Someone responded: “He took his gloves off when moving the packet. If I remember correctly.” However, a third fan added: “He did but it still doesn’t make much sense. Ignoring the fact it would only be a partial print, how did it even get there and who used it?”

Another insisted: “I don’t recall any mention of his DNA being found, only his fingerprints since he handled the condom wrapper after taking off his gloves.”

Joel is soon set exit Coronation Street after a very dramatic stint on the cobbles. Actor Calum Lill has revealed the storyline has been “bittersweet” as he knew eventually he would have to leave the soap.

Joel Deering is set finally get his comeuppance

Speaking about his upcoming exit from the Manchester-based programme, Calum said: “It’s bittersweet. To know that I’m going to have to leave eventually is really sad. The people that I work with – cast and crew – are incredible. But I’ve been given an amazing, chunky story to sink my teeth into and I couldn’t ask for anything more.”

He then added: “I’ve been at Corrie for a year now and it’s the nicest place to work. Everyone is so committed to taking the show to the next level and they put so much hard work into so many amazing storylines that they’ve got going on. Everyone’s working so hard and working together to produce something of quality, that people can sit down and enjoy.”
