Corrie ‘work out’ who takes over Debbie’s hotel after death – and it’s returning icon
Coronation Street fans are convinced they know who will take over the Chariot Square hotel after reports emerged that the iconic building's owner Debbie Webster is set to be killed off
Coronation Street viewers reckon they’ve got it sussed out about who will nab the keys to the Chariot Square hotel, amid reports of Debbie Webster’s tragic exit.
Debbie, played by Sue Devaney, first waltzed into Weatherfield back in ’84, donning the role of Kevin’s sis. She upped sticks a year later but bounced back big time in 2019.
She’s now the boss of the Chariot Square hotel and frankly, fans can’t get enough. But in a heartbreaking twist, this week it was reported that that Debbie might be bowing out for good.
Word has it Sue Devaney will tug on heartstrings with a top-notch performance as Debbie faces down a dementia diagnosis in the pipeline. The plot thickens in 2025 for what’s chalked up to be an epic saga that’ll leave fans in bits.
A source spilled to Metro: “It’s one of the show’s biggest storylines of the year, and a real chance for Sue to finally get her time in the spotlight it will just be devastating for fans that it will effectively be her final storyline.”, reports Plymouth Live.
But Corrie punters have their ears to the ground and reckon they’re onto who will check-in as the Chariot Square Hotel honcho post-Debbie. Holding court on a Corrie fan page on Facebook, someone chimed in: “Who will run the Chariot Square when she’s gone?”.
One pundit put their money on Carla saying: “Maybe Carla will buy it, she has an expanding property empire.” Meanwhile, others are buzzing about a legendary face potentially making a comeback to seize control.
One excited fan speculated: “Rosie! Which ties in her return,” while another viewer couldn’t help but write: “I can see this happening! ” And yet another added their high hopes, noting: “Hoping that this storyline with Debbie leads to a Webster revival with Rosie and Sophie.”
Rosie, played by the fabulous Helen Flanagan, first set foot on the iconic cobblestones back in 2000 at just nine years old as the feisty daughter of Sally (portrayed by Sally Dynevor) and Kevin (played by Michael Le Vell). Helen bid farewell to the Street in 2012 to spread her acting wings.
She later made a dazzling comeback in 2017 but then waved goodbye once more in 2018 to embrace motherhood with her daughter Delilah, leaving fans wondering when they’d see her next.
