Corrie viewers left saying same thing as Betsy Swain reveals game-changing secret
Coronation Street's Betsy Swain has finally shared the huge secret she has been keeping
Coronation Street’s young character Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) has finally spilled the beans on a massive secret she’s been harbouring.
Betsy, who first appeared on the soap earlier this year as the daughter of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), got entangled with the sinister solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill). Joel had previously manipulated and mistreated Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) before attempting to murder their infant, Frankie.
However, this week it was unveiled that Betsy was deeply involved in Joel’s wicked plots. In Wednesday’s episode (September 18), Betsy made a disturbing admission to her friend Sabrina (Luana Santos).
She discussed Lauren’s baby Frankie, who was born prematurely after Joel drugged Lauren during her pregnancy. Medical professionals now suspect his poor health may be connected to the pills Joel administered.
Later in the same episode, Betsy paid a visit to Lauren and Frankie in the hospital, leaving Lauren puzzled about her identity. Betsy apologised to Lauren without providing any context, which left her unsettled as she hastily departed, reports the Liverpool Echo.
In Friday’s episode (September 20), Betsy finally came clean. After confessing to Carla Connor (Alison King), she then disclosed everything to her mother Lisa. A tearful Betsy confessed that Joel had coerced her into buying the drugs he used in his attempt to kill baby Frankie.
She shared that he had forced her to call a private clinic to get the pills, and fake she was pregnant and wished for an abortion. Luckily, Betsy’s bombshell meant the police could arrest Joel for his dodgy plot to kill Frankie.
Later in the episode, it was all confirmed when Swain hit play on a recording of Joel and Betsy ordering the dodgy drugs. The reveal of Betsy’s secret hardly knocked fans for six, with many having sussed out her game earlier in the week.
On a Corrie fan page on Facebook, one sleuth posted: “Bet she purchased them on Joel’s behalf.” Another chimed in with: “I think Joel got her to order them for him.” And a third had already called it, writing: “I think it’s going to come out that Joel got Betsy to order the pills.”
