Corrie’s controversial cult storyline end date ‘revealed’ after uproar – and it’s soon
Coronation Street viewers have been left horrified by the soap's cult storyline, but it's been suggested that the harrowing plot could be coming to an end soon
Corrie’s chilling cult plotline looks set to reach a dramatic climax.
Earlier this year, fans were gripped as the enigmatic “self-improvement group” The Institute slithered into Weatherfield. The shadowy outfit, helmed by the charismatic Rowan Cunliffe (Emhrys Cooper), quickly ensnared local Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).
Leanne was hooked in no time, leaving her betrothed Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and sister Toyah Habeeb (Georgia Taylor) fretting over her new obsession.
Despite their worries, The Institute has tightened its grip on Leanne, who’s even roped in Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) to the fold. Toyah’s oblivious to the fact that Leanne’s been spilling the beans about their private woes to Rowan, who’s exploiting this intel to his advantage.
Meanwhile, Toyah’s battling her own demons, reports the Express. After pouring her heart out to Nick about losing her stillborn daughter Rose, they found solace in each other’s arms.
But when Rowan caught them in the act, he coerced Toyah into signing an NDA to hush up about the cult. Yet, Toyah’s still poking around The Institute.
The controversial storyline has had viewers up in arms, but it seems the end is nigh, especially since Emrhys Cooper (aka Rowan) hinted at his panto gig on Instagram. Emrhys has landed the role of Prince Fredrick in the St Helens Theatre Royal’s production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The panto gig is set to run from November 30, 2024 January 15, 2025, which suggests Emrhys will be taking a two-month break from filming the ITV soap.
Given that Corrie typically films around six weeks ahead of schedule, this could hint at the cult storyline wrapping up around September.
