Former Love Island star Amber Davies, who is currently taking to the rink in ITV’s Dancing On Ice, has answered claims that she is set to join the cast of Coronation Street this summer.
Despite finding fame after winning the third series of Love Island in 2017 alongside then partner Kem Cetinay, Davies already had a background in West End theatre having landed a scholarship in a prestigious drama school aged sixteen.
The actress took a brief hiatus from her acting to participate in the hit reality show, but since her big win she’s skyrocketed to the top of the billing with roles in 9 to 5: The Musical, Pretty Woman and as Marty McFly’s mother Linda in the Back to the Future Musical.
It was reported recently that she was about to take on her first soap opera gig, joining the cast of Coronation Street this summer in a ‘major role’. A source had insisted that joining the show was ‘like a dream come true for her.’
But Amber has been quick to quash these rumours, and taking to Instagram between gruelling training sessions for Dancing On Ice she said: ‘I have NO IDEA where this has come from but it’s absolutely false!’
‘After DOI [Dancing On Ice] I will be back on tour with my wonderful @prettywomanmusicaluk family.’
So whilst her feet may not be gracing the hallowed cobbles, she’s still firmly fixed to the ice, impressing judges on Sunday with her performance of a Barbie-inspired routine alongside professional dancer Simon Proulx-Sénécal.
She found herself at the top of the leaderboard with a score of 31.0, beating soap stars Ryan Thomas and Claire Sweeney (Coronation Street), Roxy Shahidi (Emmerdale) and Ricky Norwood (EastEnders). S Club 7 icon Hannah Spearritt was at the bottom of the results and was eliminated from the competition. Emmerdale’s Roxy, who has portrayed Leyla Harding for fourteen years, has found her two jobs crossing paths in recent months with legendary skaters Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean making a cameo appearance in the dales at Christmas to assist Belle Dingle in her proposal to Tom King.
