Date confusion for DS Lisa Swain and Carla Connor as a huge request is made in Coronation Street
DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) is set to ask Carla Connor (Alison King) to organise a date in upcoming Coronation Street scenes – though sadly not the kind #Swarla fans are hoping for.
Swain recently opened up to Carla about her family struggles, following the death of her wife two years ago.
During their conversation, she revealed that her teenage daughter had been playing up by bunking off school and refusing to revise, despite planning to apply for a fashion design course.
With Carla having given Swain a listening ear, the detective returned the favour by encouraging Roy Cropper (David Neilson) to repair his relationship with Carla.
Roy fell out with Carla when he discovered that she hadn’t tried very hard to stop Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) giving police a false statement in the hopes of freeing him from prison.
Following his release, Swain pointed out that he shouldn’t chase Carla away as she was a good friend, which prompted Roy to talk to her and allow her to make amends.
As a thank you, Carla then offered Swain’s daughter some work experience at the factory, in a bid to help with her application.
In upcoming scenes, Swain pays Carla a visit at the factory to ask if they can arrange a date for her daughter’s work experience – but what will Carla say?
Carla has a lot going on at the moment, with Roy and Bobby taking up a lot of her time. Will she be able to stick to her word and help Swain out?
Swain and Carla have seemingly grown very close in recent weeks, with many fans hoping that their relationship will turn romantic.
However, actress Alison King recently confirmed that Carla isn’t ready for a new relationship, following her split with Peter Barlow last year.
‘I don’t think she’s ready for another relationship at all and she’s definitely not got her eye on anybody,’ she said. ‘I don’t think she’s thought twice about it. I think it’s the last thing on her mind.’
However, fans still have hope that these two may have a future, as just because Carla isn’t looking for someone right now, it doesn’t mean that that won’t change.
On top of that, Vicky Myers confirmed several months ago that someone had caught Swain’s eye – could it be Carla?
‘I think she perhaps has seen somebody that’s caught her eye but at the moment she’s far too busy with focusing on this investigation and her career and being a single mum and juggling her home life as well with her teenage daughter.’
With Carla potentially about to start helping with her daughter, will Swain have time in her schedule to pursue a relationship – and will Carla realise that she’s ready for one?
Maybe one day Swain will be asking Carla for a date of the romantic type… We still have hope!
