Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) is finally set to uncover the truth behind her scheming fiancé Joel Deering (Calum Lill) next week.
After attacking Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) back in February and leaving her for dead, he’s so far managed to keep his devious ways under wraps – but that was threatened when she revealed she was pregnant with his baby.
Lauren asked him to fund her new life in Ireland, but in order to bide more time (and get out of coughing up the cash), he decided to spike her with drugs that would induce early labour… and therefore kill the unborn child.
Luckily his plan backfired, and Lauren later gave birth to a son.
Dee-Dee’s suspicions started to grow when she noticed an email on his laptop asking him to rate his experience of Belfast Airport, and a conversation with his ex-wife Emily (Ellena Vincent) causes further concern.
Joel claimed that he’d bought an expensive bracelet for his daughter Maeve, though when Dee-Dee purchased a charm for it to present to their prospective flower girl, Emily claimed she had no knowledge of such jewellery.
She warned her not to trust him, as he was still paying rent on his old flat, and when Dee-Dee called round she found the cupboards full of food. She came to the conclusion that he must be having an affair.
Quickly covering, Joel said that Belfast was for a business trip.
In upcoming scenes on the ITV soap, she uses a search engine to track down the jewellers where he claimed to buy the bracelet from and as she looks at other items worth £300, she’s taken aback by what she finds.
Later, she arrives at Weatherfield General to check on Lauren and baby Frankie and is stunned to hear that she’s moving to Belfast. Suddenly, she puts two and two together.
Heading home to No. 15a, she drops into conversation the coincidence between the two situations, but Joel masks his surprise and gives nothing away.
Aware that something fishy is going on, she decides to investigate further. Will she dread what she finds?
