EXCLUSIVE: Coronation Street’s Alina actress teases ‘difficult’ scenes as show future ‘revealed’
Coronation Street star Ruxandra Porojnicu has addressed her future with the ITV soap after her character returned this week.
Alina Pop made her big comeback after three years away, but she wasn’t alone. It was revealed Alina had a son, with her ex Tyrone Dobbs being the biological father of her child.
The news threw a spanner in the works for Tyrone and his wife Fiz, and is set to create plenty of drama for their family as Alina considers her future in Weatherfield. Initially planning to flee again, she’s left torn with Tyrone keen to get to know his secret child.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Alina actress Ruxandra teased whether she was back permanently or if it was likely she would soon leave again. She told us: “I think it would be nice, I would love for her to stick around. I don’t think she’d have chosen to come back this early because her child is so young.

“She didn’t want to take him back and bring new people into his life like his father, it’s complicated. He’s got sisters too. Being back is too much, she needed time away to heal. She did some healing for sure in those years away but she needs more time to be away from the street.”
On Alina’s relationship with her child, the star went on: “She finally has someone because she was kind of alone and back home, she has a family but having her child, a little family, makes things different. She’s definitely grown up now she has a child.
“I hope she seems more like a mama bear with her cub.” But Alina will fear for her son after her past with Hope. She told us: “I think it will be difficult to see Hope. There is a big wound related to Hope, she caused the wound.
“It’s hard for Alina to be around Hope. She’s trying her best. She’s worried about anyone being around her child from the street, she doesn’t wanna see anyone. She doesn’t want to bring him harm, but she has to make a few sacrifices.”
