George Shuttleworth hands over thousands to stop feud with sister Glenda in Coronation Street
A furious Glenda sought legal advice before delivering a shock of her own to George and Todd
GEORGE Shuttleworth hands over thousands of pounds to stop his feud with sister Glenda in Coronation Street.
The undertaker discovered a lost version of his late father Archie’s will in recent episodes of the ITV soap.
It stipulated that his sister Glenda should have received 50 per cent of the funeral parlour business six years ago.
George felt like he had cheated his sibling out of her inheritance and so did his best to try and help her when she said she wanted to buy a business franchise.
But when he looked at her funds, he realised she would have no way of being able to pay for it, so scuppered the deal, leaving Glenda crushed.
Later, Glenda moaned to Todd about George’s act of betrayal and Todd assumed she was referring to Archie’s will.
When Glenda demanded to know what will, Todd realised his mistake, but it was too late to try and cover.
A furious Glenda sought legal advice before delivering a shock of her own to George and Todd by telling Rupert from Rest Easy that the undertakers was up for sale.
Having carried out her revenge and with the chance of the feud rumbling on for the foreseeable, upcoming Coronation Street scenes see George apologise to Glenda.
He also hands her a cheque for £22k by way of a compromise, hoping it will put an end to their feud.
But will Glenda accept the money and his apology? Or will the siblings’ relationship be ruined for good?
Actor Tony Maudsley – who plays George – recently opened up about the storyline, and why his alter ego was so reluctant to be open with his sister about the will.
He said: “George is half protecting his little sister, who he loves dearly.
“He’s half protecting his dad’s legacy, which he has diligently looked after and kept going since Archie’s death.
“So he’s in this quandary of not [wanting] to short-change his sister, but also not wanting to hand her half a business that she’s going to sink into the ground in five seconds, if she gets her hands on it!”
