Coronation Street newcomer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) is heading up the investigation into Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) disappearance, but he is set to get a shock next week when his body is found.
Joel went missing at the end of September, and DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) was sure his death was suicide.
However, a post-mortem on the body, which is found in a river next week, proves that Joel was murdered by two blows to the head.
‘Kit’s priority is to get down to the bottom of who killed Joel,’ actor Jacob Roberts explained. ‘He knows someone is lying, everyone is acting shifty on the street and there’s a few potential culprits.’
As the investigation gets underway, it is safe to say that Kit will do anything to catch the person responsible.
‘Kit usually likes to take the law into his own hands in order to get justice so I think we will see him do the investigation how he believes is right,’ Jacob teased.
‘Kit likes to justify his bad behaviour to get what he wants and if he can get the culprit at the end of it, I think he’ll turn a blind eye to how he gets the end result.’
Despite Kit’s feelings toward Joel, Jacob promised that it wouldn’t affect his judgement when it came to solving the crime.
‘In a way, Kit is glad Joel is dead, but he’s equally gutted that he never got to bring him to justice and see him rot in jail.
‘I think he’s switched now and it gives him another chance to actually find and catch the culprit rather than someone dying.
‘Kit wants to see someone through the justice system. He’s put all of this work into Joel and for him to die at the end of it is a bit of a kick to the teeth for Kit, Swain and everyone else who has been involved in the case so now he’s got to put all of his time and energy into who killed Joel to try and make up for that.
‘Kit is a bit of a workaholic and he definitely won’t be nice to people about the case, especially people who lie to him.’
Next week, Kit gets a lead on a suspect from Lisa, and Jacob promises plenty more drama as the case unfolds.
‘Lisa, who is now off the case, puts it into Kit’s head that Mason could be the suspect because he had a crowbar, which makes Kit’s eyes light up.
‘When he visits Mason, he finds him with a crowbar and Kit brings him in for questioning, but I think this is just the beginning…’
