‘Is it deliberate?’ ask baffled Coronation Street fans as they spot Gemma Winter blunder
Her twin brother is dying and she's been forced to steal, yet viewers have spotted something else entirely
CORONATION Street fans have been left utterly baffled as they spotted a huge blunder when it came to Gemma Winter.
Dolly-Rose Campbell has played the beloved role on the cobbles since October 2014.
However, Coronation Street fans have raised concerns over the apparent direction of the recent storylines.
She has five kids – including a set of quadruplets – with her husband, Chesney (Sam Aston).
The duo have been struggling with the cost of living crisis, and Gemma felt like she was forced to steal.
In the past few weeks, viewers watched on as her daughter, Carys, was meant to go on a school trip, but her shoes were far too small.
As they tried on new footwear at a shop in town, Gemma knew she could not afford the pair she wanted, so in a spontaneous move, she stole them.
However, she was soon racked with guilt, so Gemma returned the shoes, only to be chased out of the shop by the manager.
Later, he pressed charges after coming face to face with her when his own child – who is friends with Chesney’s son Joseph (William Flanagan) – was round at number five.
Gemma was arrested but mum Bernie convinced her estranged police officer son Kit – who Gemma had no idea existed at that point – to help get her off.
Despite all the intense storylines, many fans are more distracted by Gemma’s make-up, as they noticed she had an orange coloured face which was a very different shade on her neck.
One fan took to social media forum Reddit, as they commented: “Why has Gemma got an orange face in every episode ? Fake tan is on her face & round her jawline , makes her head look like a satsuma.”
To which, another fan replied: “I think it’s a deliberate choice for her character not to have perfect makeup”, while a third stated: ” Yeah it must be on purpose because if you look up the actress that plays her, looks entirely different.”
“It has been that way at least since I started watching – it drives me insane – I just want to attack her with a foundation match and blender sponge,” wrote a third viewer.
Meanwhile, a fourth stated: “Whoever does her makeup should be fired.”
And a fellow viewer added: “It’s probably just to make her look chavvy if anything. She’s a bit if a rough diamond.”
On X – formerly known as Twitter – fans echoed the sentiment as one fan wrote: “The real crime from the producers is how they’ve allowed Gemma’s awful face tan to continue. Just make it stoppppp.”
As someone else added: “I really wish they’d give it a rest with Gemma’s comedy makeup/tan. Absolutely impossible to care about the character in a serious storyline with her looking like that.”
