‘It doesn’t add up!’ rage Coronation Street fans as they slam Lauren Bolton dramatic storyline
They especially hated the flashback sequence
CORONATION Street fans have been left in an utter rage as they slammed Lauren Bolton’s latest storyline.
ITV viewers were left shocked when the supposedly dead character made a dramatic comeback onto the cobbles.
Lauren actress Cait Fitton, 22, made a shock return to the soap after being nearly beaten to death.
Viewers previously slammed the storyline after Roy was arrested, charged, and wrongly imprisoned for her murder.
This was only based on circumstantial evidence and Roy’s eccentric behaviour.
Later, Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) was framed as Lauren’s murderer after he broke bail conditions by possessing a stash of her adult content.
It has now recently been revealed what actually happened in flashback scenes shown to viewers.
The vulnerable character was taken advantage of by Joel Deering (Calum Lill).
They slept together behind the back of Joel’s partner and fiance Dee Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown).
After he nearly beat Lauren to death in a rage, he was then shocked to see her back at the hospital, with barely a scratch.
In a private room he threatened to strike her but she declared she was carrying his baby.
But Coronation Street fans have clearly been left unimpressed as they took to social media website, Reddit in their droves.
A new thread titled ‘This Lauren Storyline still doesn’t add up,’ fans flocked to the forum to put the storyline on blast.
One viewer echoed: “Couldn’t agree more with you mate, feels like such wasted potential.”
A second raged: “In execution, it’s just…a horrid mess and when looking at the overall picture it really reduces the show’s storytelling.”
“Thissss so much !! The writers are woeful at the moment,” stated a third viewer.
Another sarcastically fumed: “When Swain arrested everyone on the street, I gave up on this story for its sheer implausibility, months ago.”
And a fifth added: “It’s a shame the writers didn’t focus on more about how Joel slowly groomed Lauren into sleeping with him.
“If the writers actually made it believable to Lauren that he could be her boyfriend by making Joel single it would have made more sense.”
