Coronation Street viewers learned some shocking news about Tyrone Dobbs on Friday night that could change his life forever if he learns the truth on the ITV soap
Coronation Street dropped a huge twist involving a major character on the ITV soap on Friday night.
A secret that had been kept for decades came to light, as Cassie Plummer dropped a bombshell about her son Tyrone Dobbs. Tyrone remains unaware of the truth about his parentage, after a twist on the show a year ago saw him reunited with his biological mother.
He’d been led to believe his mother had died years earlier after he learned he was adopted, but last year Cassie headed to the cobbles and revealed who she was. The news turned Tyrone’s world upside down and almost tore apart his relationship with his grandmother Evelyn Plummer.
They’re all now on good terms, sort of, but in the latest episode Evelyn pressed Cassie for the truth about Tyrone’s father. Until this point, Tyrone has never met his dad with him also not knowing who he was.
Tyrone had let slip about Cassie’s past sex work when she was a teenager to a stunned Evelyn, causing Evelyn to question her daughter about what she went through. Recovering drug addict Cassie had told Tyrone all about hitting trouble as a teen and her fractured relationship with her parents, with Evelyn also blaming her for her father’s death.
So when Evelyn found out the lengths Cassie had to go to as a teen and the fact she hadn’t told her about it, she was mortified and apologised. As the pair softened towards each other, Evelyn asked about how Cassie ended doing sex work.
Cassie detailed how her older friend Richie, who she met when she was 15 or younger and he was in his mid 20s, had got her hooked on drugs. She also explained he got her caught up in sex work, with her sleeping with people he knew for money.
It’s then that Evelyn made a realisation, that Cassie was doing sex work around the age she fell pregnant with Tyrone. Cassie admitted that it was a punter who was the father of Tyrone, and begged her mother never to tell her son the truth.
She didn’t say who it was or if she knew, just that Tyrone was conceived during this point in her life. She’s been hiding this from Evelyn and Tyrone since her pregnancy as a teenager – but will he find out the truth?
