The Coronation Street cast has bid an emotional farewell to one cobbles favourite after three years.

It was revealed earlier this month that Bill Fellows, who plays Stu Carpenter on the ITV soap, had decided to quit the programme, and his final scenes have already been filmed. Taking to Instagram recently, actor Bill, 67, shared a picture of the sweet leaving gift from his co-stars.

Bill revealed he had received a portrait of himself signed with sweet messages from the cast. Captioning the post, the actor penned: “Nice parting give with a top quality bottle of Champagne x”. Bill’s co-stars were quick to bid an emotional farewell as they commented on the post.

Elle Mulvaney, who plays Amy Barlow, wrote: “Going to miss you in work!!” with crying emojis, Mollie Gallagher, who plays Nina Lucas, said: “Gonna miss you” with upset emojis while Cait Fitton, who plays Lauren Bolton, added: “We will miss you” with heart emojis.

Stu arrived in Weatherfield after meeting Kelly Neelan and vowing to keep an eye on her. Despite Kelly’s exit, he later stayed after growing close to Yasmeen. It is not yet known how Bill’s character Stu will leave the soap but could it be to do with Mason Radcliffe, who recently made his return to the Cobbles. Stu has been supportive of Mason, after his family turned their back on him.

In one big storyline, it was confirmed that Stu wasn’t responsible for the death of Charlie and that it was actually his daughter Bridget that was responsible for the death. Since then, he has been in a relationship with Yasmeen and his granddaughter Eliza moved into number six with them, before eventually leaving to be with her dad.

During a chat with The Mirror, Bill discussed the storyline surrounding Charlie’s death. He said: “There are load of twists and turns. Obviously people are guessing what’s gonna go on, but there is so many permutations. No one wins and there are loads of people who get affected by this, and none of it has a happy ending in the end. It’s quite tricky.” Stu also famously fell out with Eliza’s father Dom, which led to her disappearing on multiple occasions.
