ITV Coronation Street fans confused by Damon Hay’s error in shocking gang scenes

Coronation Street fans were left puzzled by Damon’s blunder in some huge gang scenes tonight.

Damon had been told by his brother Harvey that he needed to help commit a robbery to keep his partner Sarah Platt and her children Bethany and Harry safe, and whilst he lied to her and told her it was actually happening next week, he took part in the robbery tonight with disastrous consequences as he ended up being arrested in shocking scenes.

However, fans were left confused when they noticed that Damon had made an escape from the scene separately. Damon had decided to take the money in a bag and run off separately before the police arrived, but viewers were confused when he kept his balaclava on as he ran down the road in the same direction as the robbers in the car.

One wrote: “Why is Damon running down the road with a balaclava on if he doesn’t want to get caught for the robbery? #Corrie,” whilst a second added: “Why is Damon running down a main road with a balaclava on and a suspicious black bag? Not very clever eh #corrie.” A third shared: “I’m not a criminal but I reckon after you carry out the robbery you should scarper as soon as possible. #corrie.”

“I very much doubt criminals would have such an altercation whilst a planned job was in progress. #Corrie,” a fourth added, with a fifth writing: “That security guard may have heard every word Damon and Harvey’s cronies were saying…#Corrie #CoronationStreet.”

Sarah decided to split from Adam to be with Damon, but fans have been left puzzled by her decision. Actress Tina O’Brien explained of her character’s decision to choose Damon: “Gail’s had quite a few really dodgy relationships, it started off well with Martin after she lost Brian but then it descended into chaos or murder so maybe Sarah’s picked up on that. Apart from Martin, Sarah’s not really had the best male role models in her life and she does seem to know how to be a wrong ‘un.”

And it looks like more trouble is ahead for Sarah, as Tina explained how much she loves filming the scenes.

“I love it, I think it’s a lot more interesting as an actor. Sometimes for my character, I do love the idea of her being settled and happy but for me it keeps me much busier and it’s much more fun to play,” she said.

“I loved the will they/won’t they elements of the story with Adam, I think sometimes that’s almost more powerful, two people who should probably be together but the universe has got in their way and they’ve never been able to resolve that. I like that unspoken love, that they might go off in their different directions but there’ll always be that pull, kind of like she was for a long time with Gary.”
