ITV Coronation Street ‘rumble’ who Roy’s new inmate is linked to – and it’s ‘not Stu’
Coronation Street viewers were introduced to an old friend of Stu Carpenter on the ITV soap as he tried to befriend Roy Cropper in prison, but fans are fearing a twist
Coronation Street fans believe newcomer Roscoe could have a sinister plan for Roy Cropper, after revealing his link to another character on the ITV soap.
The character walked into Roy’s prison cell during Wednesday’s episode, claiming to be on his side. Amid Roy being banged up for Lauren Bolton’s murder despite being innocent, he’s kept to himself and hidden away in his cell.
On Wednesday newcomer Roscoe made his presence known, leaving Roy in fear as he ordered him to leave. But Roscoe claimed they had a mutual friend and that he was there to be an ally of his, at the request of someone else.
Roscoe told Roy that he was an old friend of Roy’s neighbour Stu Carpenter, and Stu had asked him to look out for Roy in prison. Roy was touched by this and passed on his thanks to Stu, with Stu confirming Roscoe’s story was correct.
But while some viewers were thrilled to see that Roy had a prison pal, others were a bit unsure how genuine the newcomer was. Some fans couldn’t help but question if there was a different reason for him suddenly wanting to know Roy.
Taking to X, some fans predicted he could be secretly connected to former villain Griff who makes a return this week. Griff, who was a member of a far-right extremist group, is set to target Roy in prison over Lauren’s apparent murder, with him being friends with Lauren’s dad.
Viewers are now wondering if Roscoe could be linked to Griff and the gang, and despite knowing Stu whether he may also be about to target Roy. One fan posted: “Why didn’t Roscoe introduce himself as Stu’s old cell mate from the off, rather than all this faff? I smell a rat.”
Another viewer said: “Why is this bloke so determined to be Roy’s new best friend?” as a third posted: “I don’t think Roy’s cellmate Roscoe is all he seems.” A fourth fan said: “Griff getting to Roy by the looks,” as another agreed: “He’s one of Griff’s gang, isn’t he?”
