ITV Coronation Street heartbreak ‘confirmed’ for Summer Spellman in cheating betrayal
Summer Spellman returned to Coronation Street after three months in America but she didn't return alone. Unfortunately, fans are convinced Todd Grimshaw will be up to no good.
Coronation Street welcomed Summer Spellman back this Wednesday, June 12, as she introduced her new boyfriend Felix while viewers believe Todd Grimshaw could steal him away from her.
Refreshed from a three-month break in the United States, the student portrayed by Harriet Bibby was all smiles as she was reunited with her three fathers Billy Mayhew, Paul Foreman and Todd (played by Gareth Pierce), although she was clearly shaken to see Paul’s motor neurone disease had progressed since their last encounter.
After a quick catch-up with her family, Summer returned to No.19a Rosamund Street, on the arm of her new beau, Felix, a PHD student in neuroscience who showed a keen interest in Paul’s condition.
Coronation Street viewers believe Todd could steal Summer’s boyfriend from her
Billy, Paul and Todd seemed to have mixed feelings over the newcomer but ITV viewers at home were certain of what they thought about him. “Felix. Not keen already”, one of them penned on X, otherwise known as Twitter.
“This new guy hasn’t spoken yet but I hate him already”, another echoed just as a third agreed: “Felix looks way too old for Summer. Felix is obviously a wrongun.”
But another theory quickly emerged among fans of the Manchester-based program as many believed that Felix could develop an attraction for undertaker Todd, who has shown little respect for committed relationships in the past.
“I bet Felix ends up being gay and ends up with Todd”, one viewer speculated. Another added: “oh no Todd got his wavering eye on Summer’s new bloke.”
A third jumped in: “Ooh Felix is going to go off with Todd”, while a fourth agreed: “Felix will be bedding Todd before we know it.” And more soap fans raged as they deemed Felix wasn’t a great match for Summer: “Yeah Summer deserves so much better than this absolute clown.”
Whatever the case may be, worries have been sparked for Paul Foreman as the builder is battling motor neurone disease and his condition is deteriorating.
The hard-hitting storyline will be the last for actor Peter Ash as he prepares for an emotional exit in upcoming scenes. “I’ll be sad to leave the show. It’s an amazing job, I’ve met fantastic people”, he told The Daily Mirror, “I’ll be sad to leave but at the same time, I’m quite happy to be involved in such a powerful storyline which will hopefully bring awareness to it. It’s a double edged sword.”
Viewers previously believed that Paul could be killed off in May or June, 2024, but his exit has been tipped to air during the summer. How will it all play out? Will Summer have a chance to say goodbye? Could Felix get in the way?
