ITV Coronation Street know who the father of Alina Pop’s son is – and it’s not Tyrone
Soap fans are convinced Alina Pop is keeping a huge secret about her son and her true reasons for returning to Coronation Street.
Actress Ruxandra Porojnicu reprised her role in the ITV soap this Wednesday, August 7, as a distracted Fiz Stape (played by Jennie McAlpine) bumped into Alina outside Freshco.
But another shock came to the Underworld employee as a picture of Alina with a little boy on her phone led her to believe Tyrone may have fathered another child without knowing.
Regular viewers of the Manchester-based drama will remember that Alina Pop was first introduced to the cobbles in 2019, as a survivor of human trafficking.

After being saved by the late Seb Franklin, she became romantically involved with the much older Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) in 2021, prompting him to leave Fiz after nine years for her.
While Fiz was understandably horrified by Tyrone’s decision to call time on their long romance, she was blissfully unaware that Alina was pregnant, supposedly with the mechanic’s baby.
Alina left Weatherfield with a hand lovingly placed on her stomach and ordering tomato juice, heavily hinting that she was keeping the unborn child.
Throughout this Wednesday’s episode, fans took to X as many of them were convinced Alina had given birth to Tyrone’s baby: “Kid look like a mini Tyrone”, one of them wrote.
Another added: “Alina’s son. Tyrone can’t deny being the father”, while a third agreed: “That was definitely a photo of Tyrone’s son. He’s going to get the shock of his life when he meets Alina again and she drops the bombshell.” One viewer chipped in: “That was Tyrone’s son in that photo, and of course Fiz just happens to pick up her phone off the floor and see it.”
However, some viewers of the long-running show have grown sceptical after Alina’s brief return to the cobbles, which saw her quickly escape the Chariot Square Hotel, where she was staying, to avoid a confrontation with Tyrone.
Fans on Reddit has now suggested that Tyrone may not be the father of Alina’s baby as they, with one believing the little boy seemed too old. Instead, they believed Alina may have had a baby with her old open-hearted pal Seb, who was murdered by Corey Brent in 2021: “He looks way too old to be Tyrone’s kid??? Imagine if Seb was the dad and she’d been keeping the baby hidden…”
Speaking about her new stint in the programme, Ruxandra said: “It feels wonderful. I love working with all the cast and crew, it’s definitely a big family who welcomed me back with their arms wide open!”
“When she sees Fiz, it’s definitely unexpected, if she was able to avoid that she would’ve done it at all costs! She basically tries to get away from Fiz and Tyrone”, she then said about her impromptu reunion with Fiz. “I think she will always care for [Tyrone] in one way or another, but deep down, she knew that Fiz is the love of Tyrone’s life and they are meant to be together.”
The actress added: “Even though it hurts Alina a little bit, that he never chose her, she is willing to let the past go”, but could there be more to her return?
