ITV Coronation Street reveals new Lauren and Bethany twist and shock exit as ‘danger’ ahead

Coronation Street airs a surprise ‘exit’ next week, just as Lauren Bolton and Bethany Platt’s storylines collide.

Spoilers confirm fresh from twists this week that Lauren could be in danger, after actress Cait Fitton revealed there was trouble ahead. Amid Lauren hiding the identity of her secret ex-boyfriend, her past comes back to haunt her next week it seems – with her introduced to the show in 2022 as the daughter of a member of a far-right extremist group.

This is how she met pal Max Turner, with both teens groomed by the group and since then Lauren has felt alone and has struggled with money. She was given a chance on the street despite everything that happened with the group, but Lauren has now turned to posting adult content on O-Vidz to get money.

But after claims of having a boyfriend and going on luxury dates, the mystery man has begun harassing her and even appeared to show up at her flat in the latest episode, while we still do not know who he is. But something happens next week that could see her in danger, and she’s not alone.

As Lauren continues to beg the mystery man to stay away, not accepting his money or gifts, she looks to other ways to raise some cash. She asks journalist Bethany if she’d write up her story of how she was brainwashed by a far-right group and sell it to a magazine.

Meanwhile Lauren is sacked from the café by Roy Cropper, worsening her money woes. It’s then that Lauren decides to leave Weatherfield for good, telling Roy she’s heading away from the street for a fresh start.

As love interest Bobby heads to the flat he’s concerned, as he realises she’s gone and the door is unlocked. Has she fled without saying goodbye, or is something more sinister at play after actress Cait told The Mirror she would face “danger”?

As for Bethany, she too could be at risk after writing the article. She shows partner Daniel threatening message she’s received from one of Lauren’s old contacts – so do they know where Lauren is and should Bethany watch out?

It comes amid fans speculating Lauren’s mystery man might be Nathan Curtis, who raped and sexually abused Bethany in 2017. Taking to X, viewers shared their theories over the identity of Lauren’s ex-boyfriend as he continues to harass her.

One fan posted: “am i deluded in being convinced that lauren’s ex is nathan curtis? idk how long he’s meant to be inside for but his possible return could tie in with whatever huge story bobby and bethany are involved in too?”

Many fans backed this theory, with one fan commenting: “This is deffo what I’m guessing,” as a third said: “THIS IS A SOLIDDDDD POINT. A fourth fan posted: “it would make a lot of sense considering the headlines saying it was going to be a grooming sl and they definitely timed it well with bethany’s return.”

The comments kept on coming too with one reading: “Who does everyone think is at the door I think it’s Nathan Curtis,” as another said: “When’s Nathan due out of prison? My money’s on him being Lauren’s secret boyfriend.”
