ITV Coronation Street Roy Cropper’s freedom ‘sealed’ as missing Lauren Bolton ‘seen’ in new clue
Coronation Street fans are convinced they've figured out Roy Cropper's freedom after a clue on Wednesday ahead of the cobbles icon being charged with the murder of missing teenager Lauren Bolton
Coronation Street fans are convinced they’ve figured out Roy Cropper’s freedom after a clue on Wednesday night.
Only recently, Roy has found himself arrested and number one suspect for the supposed murder of missing teenager Lauren Bolton. Soap fans will recall that troubled youngster Lauren abruptly left the cobbles earlier this year and love interest Bobby has been left concerned after he found her flat unlocked with Lauren nowhere to be seen.
Viewers never saw Lauren leave and it seems she told no one close to her of her plan to leave Weatherfield aside from Roy given she immediately vanished. Bobby reported Lauren as missing to the police and Roy has found himself under suspicion due to his kind nature, especially after he was caught innocently cleaning Lauren’s flat, which some people thought proved he was guilty and he was disposing of evidence.
Only recently, Roy was wrongly arrested on suspicion of murdering his former employee and since then he has faced a barrage of abuse from online trolls and sleuths trying to crack the case. On Wednesday night, Roy was left hurt and stunned to learn his late wife Hayley Cropper’s son, Christian, had said hurtful things about him and Hayley online.

After reading the article, Roy was left utterly heartbroken to learn that Christian had insinuated he had killed Hayley and that Lauren isn’t his “first victim”. Longtime soap fans will recall that Hayley tragically passed away in 2014 after she decided to end her own life following her terminal pancreatic cancer diagnosis.
Wanting to help Roy, Stu Carpenter revealed that he intended to help Roy clear his name as he knows what it’s like to be wrongly accused after his past wrong prison ordeal. Stu decided to talk to a homeless person at the precinct in the hope of getting information about Lauren to which the mystery person claimed there had “been talk” and “she was seen”.
However, before Stu could get more information, he went to pull out his wallet, failing to notice the guy picking up a brick as he returned to Speed Daal with a bloodied face and missing cash. With the mention of Lauren, especially with her allegedly being “seen” according to the homeless person, it has got fans coming up with a theory for Roy’s freedom.
In upcoming scenes, Roy is set for a devastating blow when he is charged with the murder of missing teenager Lauren. Roy was recently wrongly arrested on suspicion of murdering his former employee and now he’s set to be charged as DS Swain sees him as number one suspect. In emotional upcoming scenes, a terrified and confused Roy sits alone in his police cell dreading his pending court hearing.
Taking to social media, viewers have been discussing the storyline with some fans providing a theory, which would free Roy and reveal Lauren’s fate. One person said: “Could Lauren make a shock appearance at the trial? #Corrie”, a different account put: “I feel this will end when Lauren turns at the trial as an unannounced witness!!!” while another added: “Get Lauren to turn up in Court!”
